Midland, MI - Fraternal Northwest Little League (FNWLL) is thrilled to announce it has received a $10,000 grant from the Midland Area Community Foundation and Hemlock Semiconductor. This generous grant will be utilized to bolster player safety measures and upgrade essential equipment at the Sturgeon Baseball Complex.
The grant, facilitated through Hemlock Semiconductor’s Donor-Advised Fund at the Community Foundation, underscores a commitment to fostering a safe and supportive environment for youth baseball in our community.
FNWLL, founded in 1950 and serving approximately 325-375 families annually, has long prioritized sportsmanship, development, and fair play. The league offers a range of programs for children ages 4-12, aiming to instill valuable life lessons alongside athletic skills.
The grant will address urgent maintenance needs, including the rebuilding of pitching mounds and the re-grading of home plate areas at the Sturgeon Baseball Complex. These enhancements are crucial for ensuring player safety and preserving the integrity of the playing fields. Â A special thank you to Servinski Sod Service, who donated labor on this project.
Moreover, the grant will facilitate the purchase of new catching gear, enabling FNWLL to provide every team with updated equipment. This investment underscores the league's commitment to equitable access and the well-being of all participants.
"We are immensely grateful to the Midland Area Community Foundation and Hemlock Semiconductor for their unwavering support," said Board President Vic Albright. "This grant not only enhances player safety but also sustains the spirit of community and camaraderie that defines Fraternal Northwest Little League."
FNWLL extends its heartfelt thanks to all partners, sponsors, and supporters who make youth baseball a thriving and enriching experience for the children of Midland.
